Random haiku #7

Why this not working?
I not follow directions,
that not matter, right?

Oh my, and isn't that true. :)

Fortunately the grumbles like the one that prompted the above entry tend to pass quickly. Still, I am often puzzled when people will skip steps, and not do as directed the steps they don't skip -- only to be puzzled that things aren't working.

I would like to walk into their kitchens and start baking a cake with them. "Hmm. It asks for baking powder... Oh what the heck, powdered garlic is a powder and comes in a round package too. And I think I'll just skip the step that says to pre-heat to 450 and just stick the pan in a cold oven for half an hour..." Then see how long it takes before they comment on what I'm doing. "Oh... You mean it won't work if I don't follow the recipe?" But I can be snarky that way. :}

Heh, yes. Generally my problem is with the concept that everything is high-priority. Everything. Oy. Except whatever I'm actually doing.

Heh. Today's variation was, "I'm following the directions, and it's working. What's going wrong! It can't be working, I can't panic if it isn't breaking, so why is it insisting on working!"
