Sometimes technology is annoying

Okay, so technology much as I like it is actually frequently annoying. Such as when my cable modem stopped working earlier this week. When the tech came out to check on the line he plugged in a different modem and had no trouble connecting with it.

So today I got to spend money buying a new cable modem. Then discovered that the password I set on the wireless router was apparently written on the missing manual for the old cable modem. Five attempts to reset the router later I finally got it reset. Two attempts later it was talking to the new modem.

I've got the WPA encryption turned back on, some point later I will get around to doing the other security stuff (setting it to only talk to certain MAC IDs for the most part). The WPA is the biggest security feature. The others aren't really anything more than speedbumps to keep out the lazy.

Did I mention I had to spend money. I don't like spending money. It has a habit of producing bills later on. *mumblemumblemumble*

Which will make me oh so happy when I get a cell phone.

THat reminds me- I need to put the WEP key for my access point in a document somewhere before I lose the sticky note one which it is written upon...

Does your AP support anything higher than WEP? When I first bought mine supporting WPA was one of the things I looked for.
