Basic electronics help?

lilfluffAnyone local willing to share some basic household electrical skills? I have a lamp with a busted socket switch that I would like to fix instead of throwing out. Skimming through some web pages this looks like a pretty simple task. That said, I'd prefer to have someone with experience ready to slap me up the back of the head if I started to do anything stupid.
