I'm dropping the current Day 29 attempt, at least for now. I've changed where I start. I've changed viewpoint characters. I've tried multiple viewpoint characters. I've tried utterly ignoring any semblance of a drabble word limit. I'm going to stick this one away. Let it ferment for a while and hope whenever I pull it out again that it works better.

I think I have at least decided on a new idea to try for on this one.

A prequel to my unfinished fanfic story The Unquiet Past

Disclaimer: Insert std_disclaimer.h here. Yeah, seriously, it's fanfic, says so right above. Set in the world of the webcomic Terinu. Those allergic to furry should get over it realize that the main character is an alien anthropomorphic fox. And more reminiscent of Florence Ambrose in full "see this grin and beware of sharp pointy teeth" mode than Disney vixen Maid Marian and a "Let's break into a song routine." mood.

Day 18 - Prompt: the name "Thomas Daniel"

A continuation of Day 17's Galactic Academy scene (click on the link to view that one)

It will be a busy evening, so I'm afraid I'm posting this without much review. On the other hand, depending on how much time I have later tonight I might get a start on a follow up to the Day 16b version of, "A Scene on Horseback" than I posted to my DW account. But for now I post and run.

Setting notes: I'm certainly not the first person to think up the idea of a school in space. There was at least one 80s cartoon, another in the 90s or early 2000s. There are a multitude in anime and written science fiction.

But in the late 90s or early 2000s I started pondering as an RPG setting the idea of a gigantic boarding school in space, sizable enough to be its own large city. Classes ranging from preschool all the way up to college. A huge campus that including the faculty and support staff would result in something that might as well be a large city. I think I was originally inspired in part by the light hearted Teenagers From Outer Space RPG put out by R. Talsorian Games.

I've thought about trying something with it again recently, which is why it was already in my head when today and yesterday's prompts came up. Who knows, maybe this will lead somewhere...

Day 16b - Write a scene on horseback

Yes, Day 16b, I have actually done two for this prompt. This one, and another posted on my LJ account.

Content note: This one is darker than the one posted on LJ, although pretty tame compared to other fic I've seen posted. An off page death, slavery, and implied off page abuse.

Setting: The as of yet unnamed colony world, Eastern continent, an uncertain amount of time (probably decades) before the other pieces from days 1 and 10.
