This a Flashfic based on a prompt from

Day 16 - Write a scene on horseback
A short Tales of the Mascot piece below.
Note: Actually did two for this prompt. This one, and a rougher (somewhat darker?) one over on my DW account. Apparently I ended up cutting out this note when I first posted as I remember writing it.
Lydia looked over at Kyle, who was once more perched on her shoulder as they rode back to the manor. "What?"
"What, what?"
"You sighed. What is wrong."
"The horses, that's what's wrong."
Lydia looked around at the group's horses. "They look fine to me."
"Huh? No, I don't mean they're injured."
"Then why did you say something was wrong with the horses?"
"Because they shy away every time I try to get on one of them. Some of them even try and stomp on me!"
"But why should they not? You are clearly a predator. They are prey. Letting you climb onto them would be foolish."
"And that is what's wrong. I come to an awesome place. Castles, magic, the kinds of legendary events I've studied for years! Then what happens? I get turned tiny and I have to be carried everywhere!"
"I see. It could become worse."
"Oh no, that's a trap. Don't ever try to position anyone you like into saying things can't get worse! The fates hate it when you say that."
"But it could get worse. If you don't stop stomping on my shoulder for emphasis, I will remove you from my shoulder."
"Eep! No more stomping. Don't make me ride in the bag again. That bag is a dark and horrible place."
Jules shook a finger at him. "Now you're in for it."
"What now?"
Lydia grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, holding him eye to eye in front of her. "That bag was a present from my mother."
"Eep. Jules? May I ride with, no? Tamitha? Carl? Anyone?"
