Fictitious Light Novel Titles

So that last couple of days I've been posting fictitious light novel titles over on the fediverse using the tag #InventALightNovelTitle. You know the pattern, summarize the plot and slap that on the cover as the title? For example, here are some actual light novel titles found from a post on Anime News Network from a few years ago (picked because it was literally the first search result I got for Light Novel Titles): I Leveled Up Through Parasitism But I Might've Gone Too Far; I'm Bad at Communication, But I Maxed Out My Negotiation Skills So I Got Reincarnated; Reborn as a Vending Machine, Now I Wander the Dungeon.

So, here are my fictitious light novel titles:

• After Reincarnating I Am Now Roommates With A Shonen Protagonist At A Fictional Boarding School


• I Told The Goddess I Wanted To Reincarnate As A Mecha-Political Anime Protagonist's Best Friend, But I Just Awoke In A Creepy-Bad Romance Doujin, I'm Going To Ignore All Flags And Build Mecha Anyway!


• The Publisher Asked For A Harem Romance Comedy But The Author Is Having Too Much Fun Creating New Characters, My Life As Side-Character Number Eleventy-Seven


• I Was Supposed To Be Reborn As A Wizard, But The Reincarnation Goddess Thought I Was Yelling At Her When I Told Off Truck-Kun, Now I'm An Afterlife Intern


• I Fell Through A Portal Into The Far Future And Now I Work As A Twenty-First Century Reenactor


• When I Graduated With A Degree In Computer Science I Didn't Expect To Become A Gopher For A Datacenter Run By Fairies


• I Never Expected My Fishing-Mini-Game Skills To Be The Key To Saving A Fantasy Kingdom


• I Was Reincarnated Into A Fantasy World And Tried To Fix Society By Introducing Factories And Capitalism, Did I Just Become The New Big Bad?



I just like the idea of this being a light novel series that follows on an earlier light novel series in which the protagonist of the first realizes their second reincarnation was an opponent whose concerns they brushed off as misguided ignorance the first time around.

chuckles Some of those sound like they'd be a fun read though... and none of them are as bat-shit as some real ones I've heard of, eg: 'My Life as a Vending Machine' A former samurai reincarnates as a vending machine on a busy station... yes, that's an actual real manga/light novel and now anime.

These all seem pretty promising. ^.^ Are you going to tackle any of these?

Oh, I suspect I'd pretty much have to churn out titles for decades to match the zaniness of some of the real light novels.

Some of them are likely to end up part of my "idea seeds" file. I have for example been thinking off and on, "Fluff, you should try writing a coffee shop story," and that one title could be an interesting take.
