At least it adds up to three...
Mar. 30th, 2006 11:03 pmThis past Monday part of my car's engine decided to shred itself. A whole lot of fun. I got to stand out in the sun waiting for the truck to show up and carry it back to the shop. I even got to take the rest of the day off instead of going back to work. Of course after all that heat all I wanted to do was take a shower and crawl into bed with the fan going. Thanks however to the good guys at the shop the car was ready to go again Tuesday.
This morning on the other hand I got to enjoy the drain line deciding to plug up. Have you ever thought to ask how you would stop the flooding if the toilet was overflowing and the water valve behind the tank refused to turn? My method was to open the tank and move the water hose so it would only fill the tank instead of the trying to keep filling the bowl. Having been foiled in one attempt to flood the apartment the pipes then tried to back flow into the bathtub. The toilet was annoying, but it was actually mostly clean. The back-flowing water on the other hand... Ick. Very, very, ick.
Eventually having called the maintenance people I finally leave for work. Well, I was going to head to work, but the Check Engine light comes on. "Excuse me car, remember Monday? You need to give the other things their turns to break down. No? Well, if you insist." When the light insists on staying lit I drop the car off at the shop, saying hello to the nice folks their once again. Whee, it turns out a line was getting plugged up. Oh joy. Fortunately that proved to be a much cheaper that engine parts shredding themselves.
The week isn't over yet, but this adds up to three things. So I get to have some quite time again, right? Please?
