Ah. Yeah. Parallel is an annoyingly tricky word (I keep wanting to double the final 'l').
I figure this is some point after the Roses are Red, Violets are Dead story. By that point she's just wary rather than leave-me-alone.
And yeah, they were a band and apparently the mysteries were going to be more serious. But the network said no to the original pilot saying it was too scary for kids and to make it a mystery-comedy show instead. In redoing it they dropped the band aspect, without ever really explaining why they were always traveling around.
