A few years apprenticed under her brother. Then when the brother's mercenary outfit split, due to a disagreement between senior officers, she waited to see which half he chose and promptly went with the other.
You'll want to hide the wine from her though ("Oooh! That looks better than what I usually get!"). The good/bad thing for her is that her kind burn off alcohol a little faster than humans (but sadly not the hangovers).
