Day 3 - Write a query letter for a fantasy (any kind) novel
Dear Fictitious Publishing House,
Kyle Ashton thought he was fated to live nothing more than the life of a high school geek. He had some skill at sports, but not enough to keep from being called a nerd for all the A's he received on his schoolwork. At home he spent his time buried in books, watching animation, and playing complicated strategy games on his computer. That all changed in his sophomore year of high school on the first day of spring break.
After a marathon session watching the entire first season of his new favorite animation series he heard a voice in his head. "Their fate is in your hands. Will you protect them." He thought he was simply daydreaming about the show he had just watched. But when he said he would protect them he found himself falling between worlds, waking up surrounded by a pair of boys and four girls.
Most teenage boys would not mind waking to see four beautiful girls gazing down at them. But right away Kyle could feel something was off. When one of them reached down and picked him up without any effort he wondered for just a moment if these girls were giants. Then as they squealed about how cute he was, he caught his reflection and after he saw his new body he wondered if he was going crazy.
Going into a fantasy world isn't the only change Kyle faces. For he hasn't arrived as a dashing swordsman or a powerful sorcerer but instead as the band of heroes' cute and fluffy advisor and mascot critter. Less than two feet tall, even including the tips of the bunny ears on his fox-like body, Kyle must somehow help this band of would-be heroes to victory.
The enemy has an army, monsters, magic, and a spy within the heroes ranks. Kyle has modern knowledge from school, a sense of teamwork from the sports field, and genre savviness from years watching and reading fantasy stories.
Fear the Cute Ones is 60,000 words and the first book in the Tales of the Mascot series.
