Cars are annoying...
Jun. 15th, 2003 02:02 pmWell it was my turn to have car troubles. I swear cars must come with a piece that measure how much you are wanting to save up money, telling other bits of the car, "Hey! He just put enough away to have you fixed if you decided to break... No? Hmm, hey battery how away shorting out? No? Oooh, oh timing belt are you getting bored?"
The bad news was that the timing belt decided that yes, it was in fact getting bored.
The good news is I went into the shop while it was making funny noises, not after waiting for it to snap under the stress of another part coming loose. Very good news as I recall several people saying that the timing belt is something that tends to cause major damage if it breaks -- might as well buy a new engine levels of damage.
Have to add that to my rules of life file (If I ever get around to making it): Take the car into the shop the instant it starts making a funny sound, not after it's become thousands of dollars of damage.
Now I'm just wondering if new belts are supposed to make soft whistling noises... Sigh, back to the shop on Monday...
