Phoenix and Prop 200

lilfluffI've avoided talking much about politics, but the continuing fallout surrounding Prop 200 is annoying me.
Interesting article on AZCentral. If city employee's are sued over sued over Prop 200, Phoenix will pay the legal bills. It seems the people behind Prop. 200 are getting angry about this. Well Prop. 200 backers, please kindly STFU! I would like to point to another article: Prop. 200 pushers revealed as liars!
When opponents of Prop 200 argued that it should be voted down because it was worded so broadly it could effect almost anything, backers called the opponents paranoid. "Trust us, it's only written to effect Welfare and Voting. Don't listen to those whiners!" When opponents went to court trying to get it off the ballet because fraudulent petitions had been circulated backers cried out, "WAAAA! Those meanies are trying to deny you your vote! Why can't they remember illegal immigration is illegal but illegal petitioning is just fine!"
Only Welfare and Voting? One of Prop. 200's leaders is pushing for the broadly worded law to be used to require proof of citizenship to be shown in order to get much more. Remind me again, how are hunting licenses related to welfare or voting?
Sorry Mr. Pullen but if you folks are going to be dishonest like that, making it clear that wording the proposition so broadly was in my opinion almost certainly intentional, then it is only proper for Phoenix to act to protect its employees. If broadening the scope in this way is successful, next thing we know someone will sue because an employee at city hall tells someone, "They mayors office, oh, you can find it down that hallway." without demanding proof of citizenship first. After all, surely keeping someone from getting lost is a benefit, and the gall of providing such a benefit while on the public payroll, surely that demands punishment!
Why do I have the feeling that as popular as Prop 200 is right now, it's going to end up being a huge embarrassment to the state.
