I'm a Pod Person
Mar. 7th, 2006 09:22 pmWith a stack of gift cards in hand I recently gave in and joined the pod people. Wouldn't have been willing to grab one yet without the gift cards to reduce the cost, but that said it's amazing how quickly the capacity per dollar ratio has been improving. I now have in my possession an iPod nano with a stack of cd's copied onto it along with several hours worth of podcasts.
One bit of niftyness. My old now retired minidisc player, made by a Japanese company, would only do English. The iPod nano is perfectly happy to display the information from my anime soundtrack cd's in Japanese.
It's amazing just how much you can fit on a couple tiny wafers of silicon. I don't think I will be trying to fit every cd I have on it, even if I have been impressed by how much space is still available, but I will be able to carry quite a bit.
I figure on copying over my Spanish cd's and practicing them while taking walks. Fitness and education rolled into one.
